The EdCeptional Kids initiative is designed specifically to help bridge the gap between families and schools to improve educational services for children with disabilities.
EdVenture’s EdCeptional Kids Initiative is designed to empower parents and caregivers of children with disabilities to become more actively involved in their child’s education. EdVenture strives to provide resources to families to bridge the gap between school and community resources. EdVenture recognizes the need for all parents to be involved in their child’s education, but parents of children with disabilities are often overwhelmed by the amount of resources available, while others are unaware of the resources to be found in their community.
A visit with Santa can be a magical experience for many children while others find it noisy, overstimulating and scary. Sensitive Santa seeks to provide a wonderful experience for all children who visit him at EdVenture. Individual times to be with Santa, diminished lighting and sounds, low key activities while waiting for Santa Claus and an opportunity to write Santa a note to tell him anything he needs to know before the visit help to provide an experience tailored to the individual child.
Certified Autism Center
EdVenture has made a commitment to address the needs of children with autism and their families through staff education leading to certification as an autism center. Training and certification is provided by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards. This organization is a leader in training and certification of organizations as certified autism centers. EdVenture’s goal is to have at least 80% of full and part-time staff trained to effectively welcome and interact with visitors living with autism.
Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and sensory processing differences are invited to join us for a sensory-friendly time, the first hour of operation (9-10 a.m.), the first Sunday of every month. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the museum in a safe and accepting environment, and enjoy interactive, hands-on activities.
